Pine Ridge, It must be nice to have the luxury of being in such great health that the use of muscles is no longer needed.
I say this not to be mean, but as a way to save money for materials to build time savers instead of wasting money and time for building at the gym. I am extremely glad that I was able to learn the use of leverage to get things done with harrising neighbors or wasting money on equipment to do things when the wife and kids needed food and cloths.

PineRidge, After rereading my post I realize that it didn't come across like I ment it to. It wasn't ment to be antaginist. Also noticed I left out word that changed the meaning about not harrising the neighbors.
Mabe my poor mans ways and living as some call white trash or pack rat are catching up as I find myself wanting more of these work savers. If all goes well I'll be building a FEL in the short future.

Thanks for understanding my rant'''

Cleatus no harm no foul. Sometimes exchanging only words here at the TBN site makes it hard to rally understand how another member might actually feel since we can't see their facial expressions like we do when talking.

My comment was made in good humor, I did not mean to offend. I consider Junkman to be a good friend but I never miss an opportunity to kid him a bit. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am old, but like the old bull, what I use to do all day, now takes me all day to do. I don't have any problem lifting the mower deck into the upright position. The mind might be going, but the body is still fit for the purpose intended.... Thanks Pfizer. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Junk.......

Junkman,
Two questions.
How difficult is it to put on edge?
When it's on it's side like that, is it stable enough to work on for things like changing blades?
Thanks.

I don't have any difficulty lifting it on its side without any mechanical devices. I guess that I still have my basic strength, that a lot of others at my age have lost. Once it is on its side, I can change the blades and do other maintenance work. As a safety precaution, it should be chained to the wall when left unattended. Right now, the mower deck is standing upright about 6" from the side of my 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Spyder, and if it wasn't safe, it wouldn't be anywhere near that car. That car is worth more than my tractor with all of its attachments.
