Anyone with experience mowing areas that puddle or are damp more than a typical field have any advice on mower choice? I just got an 11 acre site to mow, has a lot of shallow damp spots. Want to avoid getting stuck or hanging up mower. What's the best choice? I can't put off until dry. Grass is already 15" and growing. Customer wants cut.

I was thinking disc mower since it hangs from the tractor and won't drag through the mud. I also thought a traditional rotary or flail would get wet inside/underneath and expedite the rust process.

Thoughts?

I use my rear mount finish mower and just keep it a little higher than normal, suspending it off the hitch instead of allowing it to float.

Problem is that I can't do it this early because the ground is too soft to support the tractor.

I used to have an old junk MTD rider that I had welded dualies on to so it'd run across the soft spots.

leaving implementds outside is the same as using it in wet areas i would think. I wouldnt be concerned with rusting out early compared to needing a way to disconnect the disc cutter when you get stuck in mud and get out. Soemtimes when raising it all the way you sink enough to point that you cant disconnect the mower.

I would think a simple disc cutter is good for this kind of a job, just use wise judgements.
