How do the "B" series tractors raise and lower the mid mount mower deck? If it uses the 3pt hydraulics, can one use the mower and a box blade together without disconnecting one or the other? Bob

Bob,

Yes you can use a mid-mount mower on a B series with a 3ph attachment. You raise the 3ph all the way up thus raising the mower. Then you actually pin the mower up to the subframe locking in the raised mode. Then using the 3ph is possible and it does not affect the mower.

The 3pt hydraulics are used to raise both the belly mount mower and the three-point-hitch. You can pin the mower up and use your box blade but would have to remove the box blade to use the mower.

Check how easy it is to pin up your particular mower-tractor combination. I had the 54-inch belly mower on a B2400 and pinning-up the mower is almost impossible. I could not get my hand into the spot with the pin.

Do all the "B" series tractors work this way? What models use a different method? Do I have to go to a different manufacturer to find a different method? Which one? Bob

I know what you mean about pinning up the mid mount mower. Here is a little trick that I found works well. I got a metal dowel about the size of the pin and it's about three feet long. I feed it in on the left side through both pin holes and use a retaining pin on each end of the dowel. Takes no time at all. And, your fingers are not in danger! Try it.

Bill,
I solved the problem another way. I traded the belly mower for a three-point mower.

I have the 60" mid-mount on my B7100 and it takes about 1 minute to pin the mower deck up in place. I had to "play" with it a few times to figure out that it's easiest if the right side is pinned first, but it's never been difficult. If I'm using a 3-pt attachment, I also raise the guage wheels to the highest position to get a bit more ground clearance.

Guys,

Can someone give me a brief rundown on how to pin the mower? I just bought a B2400 with a belly mower and box blade and darn if I can't figure it out. In fact, just posted a new thread asking how to do this.

Thanks
