Ok, I went and picked up my new (to me) 48" belly mounted, rear pto driven mower. Frankly, I have very little idea of how to mount the dang thing. Looks like it needs a toplink? Got one. But are the chains on the mower supposed to go on the two lower three point arms, or do the mower pins go into the arms?

Where do the front mower chains attach? (clueless!)

OK... Not sure I'm seeing the whole picture here :D.....

I'm thinking what I see is a belly mounted mower and some sort of device with a gearbox that transfers PTO drive power to belt drive and is held in place by the tractors 3 pnt lift..... is this the picture?;) what you are showing us is that the center link is too low or will interfere with the drive shaft? on my bush hog It has another pc that connects to the top that swivels and then the link connects to the swivel, has something to do with allowing the lift to not bind, and absorb impacts if where to be kicked up, Not sure that I ever seen one before  is there any benefits from this setup compared to a rear PTO Finish cutter?

the reason I ask is I have just completed a conversion from a 60" mower deck from a commercial style ZERO turn and made it into a 3 pnt PTO driven finish mower, Although I have made a mistake that needs to be corrected,

Yep, you and me are BOTH confused!!!! The advantage is you gain some maneuverability (man, there's a word!) and have to back into tight spots a lot less. You only have the tractor's own length to deal with...not a tow-behind rig to boot. Seemed like a good idea at the time!!!

There's only a tiny bit of room between the rear wheels and the mower deck. And not much room for adjustment as far as making the belt longer to get the deck out of the way. I was drawn to the idea of the belly-mounted mower. The thing's in pretty nice shape. It'll make somebody a great belly mower if it doesn't fit my tractor. I think it was on an 18-20 hp machine, and is a Yanmar mower.

BTW, if you haven't done it yet, you might be able to switch the rear wheels around to widen them and give you some extra room between them and the mower deck. When I did this, I gained 4" of width.

Looking at your pictures more carefully, it looks like you already have the wheels at the widest stance...

Have you tried hooking it up just like you have it setting, including top link. Looks like with top link adjusted properly as you raise the 3 point not only would it raise the hitch but also have a tilting effect caused by the top link in turn raising the mower deck. This is all pure speculation. Wondering too if there is anyplace on the shaft going to the mower deck to fasten those chains. Seems there should be some side to side support for the deck. If those chains would attach up there some place that might keep it from being able to move side to side. Again, pure speculation.

This might help.
Yanmar YQM 48 Mower deck
The cover page kind of shows where the chains go.
Looks like the 48" may be originally for the YM 155 (D).

Looking at your second pic. It looks like there is 3 holes at lower 3pt you could move the pins back to get more clearance at the rear tires.

It looks like the chains hook to the top lift arms to keep rear of transmission belt area from being lowered all the way to the ground. It makes a triangle the holds it up.

Yep, it looks that way. Photos I have been sent, and that manual cover, have given me a pretty good understanding of how its done. I'll need to buy a few clips & brackets to get it set up right. Then it should be a matter of just backing up to it, hooking up front & rear chains, and lower arms, and mowing.

Once again this forum ha saved my bacon!! Thanks!!

the chains hook into two metal tabs that have a key hole shape. the tabs are on the pin on each of the lifting arms. i have the tabs and the undermount brackets and pulleys for the belly mount mower. just don't have the mower. don't want the brackets or tabs. if you need them let me know. hp
