Kubota BX25D
Hi All. I have a Kubota BX25, with the backhoe & bucket. I also have a plow and a landscape rake. It's been a great tractor. I also have a 14 year old Husqvarna 48" lawn tractor. It's getting a bit long in the tooth, and even though I replaced the engine last year, I still need to do more than average maintenance on it on a regular basis. A 54" mower deck for the Kubota came up for sale locally for a good price, and I am thinking about it. Actually I've been thinking about one of those or a new zero turn next year. I have about 3-3.5 acres to mow, and there is some hills to deal with. Nothing bad, I can do it all on the lawn tractor I have now. The thing with getting a deck for the Kubota is I feel like I will be changing the deck out frequently in the summer so I can use the other implements. As it stands now, I usaully keep the landscape rake & the bucket on for the summer, and in the fall winter spring put the backhoe on and in the winter change the bucket out for the plow.

I'm wondering you guys that have a mower deck for your sub compact tractors- do you change implements all the time/frequently? I'd have to remove the bucket and the rake when I wanted to mow, which is usually every week. I'm curious about what others do.

Thanks!

rear finsih mower is the solution - easy hookup. I got used landpride for $400 from a guy moving south to retire.

I still use a cheap rider for around the tight areas of the house. Had a zero turn at the farm but the hills caused more issues than it solved.

I leave mine on almost all Summer. I took it off when using the tiller and rake only because I was tearing ground up and the MMM would have a clearance issue. I can leave mine on and use the BH which some brands don't allow.

NOTE: SCUTs with MMMs will mow, but they re not substitutes for dedicated mowers. There are issues with weight and rough ride over uneven ground (which my lawn is) and mobility around obstacles or in close quarters. You may be able to get a less expensive rider to augment the SCUT in close areas, but I don't believe you can totally eliminate one unless you just go to a walk behind

I agree with prof fate that a finishing mower would be better/quicker then doing a MMM, just out of curiosity how often do you mow? The reason I ask is I have about six acres I mow every Thursday sometimes I do it Friday and right now I am using a Cub Cadet RZTL with a 54 deck and it痴 slow going, I just purchased a GC1705 with a 60 inch MMM so I am not out mowing today being I知 picking it up this Saturday, since I mow once a week i will be leaving the MMM on most of the time and that痴 why I didn稚 go with a rear finishing mower.
Most of the FEL and Box blade stuff I will be doing is on flatter land so the MMM will not be in the way but I知 sure there will be times when I need to remove the MMM, if I would of went with a TLB package I would of went with a finishing mower, I will be buying 40 more acres next to my property in 3-4 years and then I値l trade in for a 34hp tractor and backhoe then I will go with a 3pt finishing mower being more then likely it will not have a mid pto.
Good luck and hope you get what you want, I値l still need to use the zero turn for trimming and side ditch mowing.

Jim.

RFMs have their own set of complications when it comes to mobility around and near obstacles.

^^^^^ Good Point ^^^^^ Definitely wide open space is better.

I have Mahindra with a 60” mmm. I take the FEL off and put the mmm on and then swap back weekly during the summer. I ve got it down to about 10 mins to install and remove the mmm and about the same for the FEL. Kind of a pain but didn’t want another mower to maintain or store and the area I have to mow a 3 pt finish mower wouldn’t work

I leave my MMM on my BX25D all summer. I do drop off the bucket when I mow, but leave the FEL on. Helps the ride quite a bit. Rear implements don’t seem to make as much of a difference. Well except the BH. I do always drop the BH before mowing. I used to remove the FEL, but just removing the bucket seems to be sufficient.

If removing the MMM on the MF GC series tractor is as easy as they make it look I might be taking mine off more then I think but on a side note I’m disabled and disconnecting the pto might be a issue or maybe it won’t, I’ll find out Saturday morning.
It would be nice to trailer the GC around without the MMM if I don’t need it but if it is a issue I might be leaving with a RFM. I will not sign for it until I see how it’s going to be for me.

I have a BX24. I usually leave the mower on most of the time and lock it in the Top position when I have my loader and carryall on. I was even doing some boxblade work with the mower and loader on. Probably not the best idea but I do it anyway. Getting the loader and carryall on and off is not that big of a deal. I have slowed down and just resign myself to a 20 minute changeover. For me, if I was to rate the effort required to swap out and set up stuff the list from hardest to easiest would be. Logging winch, Mid mount mower, box blade, carryall, loader.
