I'm moving to a smaller place. 0.7 acre lawn, pretty flat with a little downward slope to the front lawn. I will no longer have easy access to a place to dump grass clippings.
I have a 12 y/o Kubota BX2200 with a 60" deck, a rear bagger and a FEL. I just sold the FEL so I'm got a bit of cash coming in from that.
So the decision I'm contemplating is selling the remaining BX gear and getting a Zero Turn of some type with mulching blades. The theory is that I'd be shifting up to new (although my BX probably has more years lft in it than me). I'd be going mulching blades so I would not longer have the dumping the clippings issues. And perhaps the Zero Turn is more appropriate for that scale of property. And -- hopefully -- I would come out about even on the deal cash wise.
Thoughts my friends?Should I down size it? Should I get a Zero Turn or just a small mower. Should I just add a mulching kit and sell my rear PTO bagger?.... It just seems like a waste to have a rear PTO and 4WD never to be used again, and inefficient with the 3 cyl diesel running wide open, just to mow a little lawn....
