Well... its really loud and hard on the blades

Buddy at work needed 2.5 acres mowed. He has been busy and had other issues to deal with so I offered to mow his "clean" horse pasture.

First pass going slow along the fence line I hear the most god awful noise, could not get the pto off quick enough.. Stop the tractor and sure enough the tee post is in 3 different pieces... Buried in the vines and brush it was impossible to see but the mower found it...... Time remove the blades and sharpen them I reckon.....

I hit one recently too. Didn't stalled my little G1800S, the post shot out the side of the deck about 25 ft -- glad no one was there.

Only slightly, but better to hit a tee post with the mower than with a $975 radial tire. Don't ask me how I know that :(

Reminds me of a job we did a while back.. must have mowed a t-post off and later ran the stub over leaving a '+' shaped hole in the tire and tube...

Just another one of the goodies you get mowing on a construction job!

We were mowing a 1300 acre parcel of land that was in the process of being donated to a state park. The tee post WAS a survey marker. It was cut off about 6" above the surface and painted orange. Now in 3" or 4" grass, that would have been enough to see it. But in 4' tall bull thistle, not very noticable. It hit right where the tread surface joined the sidewall. Put a nice 3" rip in the tire. Brand new tractor/brand new tire.(6430 Deere) Same old story. The high price of doing business.

While I get my share of holes in old tires.. the new ones just seem to attract things...

I, too, found an old T post with a LOADED rear tire. Seems the fence company had installed a new fence and posts and just twisted off the old posts. I was trying to get as close to the fence line as possible, to do a good job. "NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED." Wasn't even doing it for money, just in return for our horses using the field. Now my tubeless tire has a tube in it and I keep my distance from fences.

Before I had my New Holland I was using on old Sears Suburban with an Agri-Fab pull behind trail-mower. The pull behind was only a couple of years old. It was a 12.5 HP B&S w/ a 63" cut. It ran well and cut well. We had some dirt work done with a dozer. He cleaned the area up and left it pretty smooth. As my natural grass started coming up, I took the Sears and pull-behind out to mow.

That pull-behind sat really low in the front. It got caught on everything, but somehow it made it up over a T-post that had been flipped upside down by the dozer. It shattered the jackshaft the blade was attached to, mangled all of the belt pulleys, bent the tensioner, bent the main pulley attached to the motor, ripped the belt apart, and broke the blade. Spent about $800 on parts for a $1400 mower, that doesn't include the $65 belt that would now only last half a mowing. It also didn't run right after that. Ended up cutting my losses on that one and sold it.
