I have 5085E and MX10 and was wondering can I mow in economy pto if its light mowing? Wasnt sure if it would be considered to much, just beacause of the size of the mower. I have corn and beans that i dont harvest for wildlife, this is what i would be mowing in the economy mode.

I have a 5083E and MX10 That I mow with. I seldom use anything but economy mode unless the pastures get too high. as long as the engine is not bogging badly If the rpms drop over 200, I drop a gear. if they still are down, I usually come out of economy mode.

x@ I have an 83E and an mx10 and for light mowing, its no problem. Get into some hills or thicker grass, and your gonna need more ponies to keep that mower turning. If you have alot of gopher holes, I don't suggest Epto mowing.

I agree, if it doesn't bog badly, I say save some fuel and let it lug. I have run my HX15 batwing cutter on Economy when I am clipping pastures, and on the flat it worked fine. When I got into some hills, I had to gear down a bit. In heavy grass or brush, I use the normal PTO. That 15 foot cutter is heavy.

As long as the mower runs at 540 rpm, economy or power engine revs don't matter, it is machine revs that count.
