JD 2210
I'm looking to buy at JD2210 for mowing and snow removal. My driveway will be 400' long and I live in Green Bay, WI. The question I have is two parts: are those of you with machines this size pleased with the job they do mowing and is there a noticeable difference between the two deck sizes (54" vs. 62" I believe)?

I will be mowing approximately 1.5 acres.
Thanks for the intel,
Brack

Welcome to the forum.
I mow 8 acres with a 54" deck.

Mowing quality really depends on the character of your lawn. If it is flat and not rolling, the wider deck will work great. If not, then the wider deck will make it more difficult to look good, however, I think it can be done.

Ditches are tough to get looking good with a wider deck. It's pretty simple geometry, that the 54" will cut a flat 54" wide, and the 62" will make it flat across 62", regardless of how rolling the ground is between the two distances. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I had a Craftsman riding mower that was 42". It took 4 hours to mow my 2 acres. I purchased the 2210 with the 62C mowing deck and now I can do the lawn in ONE HOUR. Yes I have reduced the time to one hour.

I would always suggest the 62" over the 54" because you can get closer to trees and other items. Plus, your turning radius will be smaller with the larger deck sticking out. I have a very lumpy lawn with many mounds and slopes but the 62" deck does not have a problem with uneven cuts. I just make two passes to even out the cut by overlaping the the 2nd cut.

I have a 60" on my Kubota and was set on the 54" until I used the 60". The little extra overhang helps around trees and landscaping. I'd never go back. The 60" Kubota cuts as well as my Honda HRX push mover too.

I own a 2210 with the 62MMM. I would recommend going with that size also. I had the 54 on my older 425 and I think the 2210 is just a manuverable. I like the fact that JD increased the blade overlap on the 62 also. I could make a slight turn with the 54 and leave a strip of uncut grass. I really wanted a faster ground speed than my 425 had and the 2210 does that. I can mow my 2 acres in about an hour ( lots of obstacles). When putting in all the landscaping I made sure I kept everything to a radius that the 425 could do without backing up. That still hold true for my 2210.

Go for it! Definitely go with the 62C deck. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
