still investigating getting a rear finishing mower for the Buck. Looks like a 4 footer, maybe a First Choice rear discharge, a guy has them on EBay for $1000 free shipping. So looks like I'm supposed to maintain about 2600 rpm to spin the PTO (set at "1") at 540. In Hi 2nd, that's a comfortable ground speed, but 3rd seems kinda fast in a hilly, bumpy yard. What speed do ya'll mow at? How critical is it to maintain rpm, like when you're turning?
Looks like the ground speed is about the same in hi 2nd 2600 rpm vs my Cub Cadet 50" cut at full speed, but sometimes I have to slow down in thick grass with the cub, and the deck sometimes clogs, or makes clumps and windrows. I'm thinking the Buck has enough torque to maintain speed and the rear discharge RFM won't clog up. So if I don't lose too much time turning, etc, it may be as fast or faster.
Opinions on any of this?
