Mowing with a mmm do you mow over your grass clippings?

When i was a kid and mowed people's yards my old man always told me not to mow my grass clippings he said it takes more HP since you are re-cutting some of the grass and the mower would have a hard time. If i mow my yard clockwise i will mow my grass clippings since the discharge is on the right side i have tired it this way and it really does accumulate so much so that it builds up in front of the mmm middle wheel but it sure does make sweeping up the grass later easy.

I normally mow counter clockwise but doing it that way you have many rows of grass clippings to clean up.

I always mow counterclockwise unless there is something on the outside that I do not want the clippings blown onto.

If the grass is heavy, I sometimes use the mower to further disperse the clippings to help avoid lawn damage. It's been tough this year due to the enormous amount of rain.

Eve though I have a powered, deck driven grass catcher for my MMM (once used for leaves)) I NEVER collect clippings.

If the grass is really tall, then I will sometimes go over it again like you to put it all together for easy cleanup. If it isn't very tall, then I go the other way and leave it.

I mow clockwise. End up with one heavy row of mowed grass - I rake this up. Otherwise - I don't rake my "lawns". My "lawns" are field grass that has been mowed for the last 36 years I've been here. My lawns die - turn tan in mid-July. Spring back to life with the fall rains in late Oct - early Nov.

on my ZTR mower, I raised the discharge chute about half way and wired it in place so the clippings were dispersed rather than laid down in a row and just left them. (I know - "safety violation!"). I generally mowed straight lines back and forth so sometimes I was re-mowing the clippings but with them dispersed it was hardly noticeable.
I had 3 1/2 acres of ex-pasture.

Usually I mow back and forth which mowed over the grass clippings every other time. Then if I’m mowing in a square pattern I mow 2 passes blowing in to minimize the grass blown on the drive or against things. So I think he answer is yes, but now I wouldn’t mow in a clockwise rotation unless I’m trying to blow the clippings together. This field was mowed back and fourth.

I mow back and forth like 4570man. I cut 12 or so 2 acre lawns, and most people expect the striped look. Running over clippings also helps mulch the grass.
I suppose there is a slight hp penalty.

I mow CCW. If the grass is high and I want to collect the leavings I may do another pass and blow it into a row to pick up, but that is rare. It hasn't even spit at us since mid-May, so I dropped the mmm on 6/10 or so and the yard is dead dead dead...until it rains. I'd like to water some, but in the past couple years the two neighbors across the road and the one behind have lost their well, so I don't push mine.
