Just though I'd post a pic of the yard right after I mowed with my new MMM. Granted my yard hasn't gotten to that lush green stage yet but I am pleased with the cut the the RCK60-30B provides.

Pretty. Pictures can be deceiving but are you one of those guys that likes to mow down to the dirt?:) I leave mine high so it looks like it needs mowed after I mow by the dirt mower standards.:)

Hmm. Well maybe a little bit of a dirt mower. But I think I actually mow a little higher than most of the people around here. Maybe I'll try jacking it up another notch sometime when I miss a week of mowing. At the moment I'm considering lowering it one more notch just so I can get back in the seat and mow again today :D

Giving the lawn time to green and lush up so it will be 3 inches or higher everytime you mow WILL give you seat time this summer. If you love your lawn, and love seat time, then resist the urge to go a notch lower.

I have always mowed at 3.5" most of the year, but much closer in the fall so I can reseed. This year is the first year I have stepped up to 4". The results are surprising. The yard is so plush and green. Just before I mow, it looks like the "Bliss" desktop on windows. After I mow, it looks like a traditional yard, only better in my opinion.

After a serious dry spell a couple of years ago, I had to get very serious about the yard, since I live on a hill. Part of getting serious was deciding what the yard is "for." I like it to look nice, but I need it to be resistant to dry spells, but most importantly, I need it to keep my land within my boundaries, and out of the flow of water. I am hoping that the 4" height will be the best of all worlds. So far, it is very pleasing to the eye.

Taller is better when it comes to having a thick, green lawn. The taller grass shades the soil which conserves moisture, helps prevent weed growth and contributes to a generally healthier lawn. My neighbor was a dirt mower before he died. He was a nice old gentleman but his lawn looked worse AFTER he mowed than it did before. Our lawns joined in only a small area so the contrast wasn't that bad. I mow at 3-1/4" inches. My yard is by no means a golf course, but I do have some areas that look pretty good IMHO. In the spring when the weather is cool and wet almost any type of lawn looks nice. The difference comes in the hot dry summer. The taller mowed lawns suffer the hot weather much better than short grass. At least give it a try and see if you can tell the difference. If you don't like it taller you can always cut it down again. However, I am betting that you will like it taller. Good luck.
