Mr Funnel?

I agree the sump and the resultant captive fuel is a pain. They explain on the website the sump is there to contain water and if the funnel is filled full the resulting head pressure could force water through the filter.
So it appears the sump is necessary to capture the water shed by the filter but not allow it to sit against the filter element and possibly be forced through.... At least I think that is what they are saying:D

Surley somebody still makes them cheaper than these filter funnels

I'd say that's a possibility, but if so, I don't know who.

And I think Skyco has a good point, also.

Of course, I have no financial interest in Mr. Funnel so no interest in defending them other than the fact that my brother used to sell them several years ago, had a number of very happy customers, and gave me one that worked for me. I would hope someone from the Mr. Funnel company would see this thread. There may (or may not) be a way to improve the product.

I have one and like it.

I bet there's a lot of smarts in the design, probably having something to do with surface tension of the liquids.

I suppose that if there was no place for the water to go, its presence on the screen continuously with vibration and movement might force some of the water thru and it wouldn't work.
