MTD Pro MMZ2560
Hello,

I have a MTD PRO MMZ2560, the past couple of seasons it has been going through a couple belts a season. Now I can't even get my front yard mowed without the belt coming off and it is worn out on the inside. I can't see what is causing it? I have replaced the main deck spindle and the idler arm pulley but no luck. Someone please help, this has to be a common problem I think? I have heard others having the same problem with this mower but have not seen any resolution.

Thanks in advance!! My grass will not quit growing!!!

OK, update. After I cleaned it all up so I could see it looks like the pulley on the clutch PTO is spreading apart, maybe causing the belt to sit too deep and slip? About $400 bucks for one of these so hopefully someone can confirm? Ever seen this happen?

Never have seen the pto pulley spread on the electric clutches. Most likely the belt is rubbing a misaligned belt guide or something similar. Put the belt on and then look for shiny spots where something looks like it has been rubbing.

Also confirm that it is the correct belt, wouldn't be the first time I have seen incorrect part numbers on diagrams. Sometimes a belt that is incorrect for some reason will cause an idler arm to over rotate allowing the belt guide to hit the belt.
