MTD YARD MACHINE MODEL 660 THRU 679 WILL DIES WHEN TRY TO GO IN REVERSE

mtd yard machine will go forward and run in gear, but when put in reverse it dies. I replace the clutch safety switch with reset button on it and reverse safety switch---to find the one of the wires is bare. How do I fix this to get this to go in reverse?

Alot of mowers have a safety switch that kills it if the blades are engaged while going to reverse so you can't cut in reverse - you must bypass that switch in order to run the blades while in reverse, if you dare. It's a safety for people that don't really have enough sense to be using the machine to begin with but very impractical for cutting grass in my opinion.
