K744 is equipped with Mercedes Benz Tier 3 engine, 428 hp. Connected to the air drill through the draw bar.
The tractor is also equipped with an optional PTO to connect to large augers.
Drill Control is almost completely computerized. At close reach to the tractor operator's hand is a terminal,
from which the management and control of all parameters of seeding works.
As part of the equipment the Air Seeder machine already has the GPS-antenna, which is to complement the tractor auto steering function.
The high level of automation has led to an increased load on the tractor's hydraulic system - in addition to the fan hydraulic drive (pictured left) is mounted on two more hydraulic motors on the metering coils (one of the motors is shown on the photo).
The entire load is transferred via the standard draw bar. There was no need for the optional more powerful 11,000lb draw bar.
Draw bar solution not only provides a rigid coupling and optimal thrust vector, but also increases the life of the implement of the tractor.
At this farm, when choosing the seeder model, one of the key requirements was the scheme of the cart, which must be a part of the drill.
Working speed of the machine-tractor unit 9-12 km/hr (5.6-7.5 mph), working two shifts per day, farmer seeds about 500 acres per day..
Before using K744, the farm utilized different brand 500 hp tractor. According to the farmer it turned out that for traction and performance the MTZ-Kirovets K744 is performing as good , while using 35% less fuel and costing 50% less upfront. So it was an obvious choice at this farm.
