Has anyone used shredded willow for mulch? I know where I can get lots of willow that isn't very hard to get to and is in long poles about 15 ft. I know some wood doesn't work well for mulch so I thought I wood find out if anyone has had any experience using willow. I have a small chipper/shredder that will work on soft wood so I thought I would try it.

I use the chips from the Ponderosa pines I chip every year. I do watch out for any trees that are infected with pine bark beetle - I burn those. Willow should be about as soft as the quaken asp/birch we have around here. OK, I just check a site and it says willow makes good mulch, doesn't last as long as some and will turn into dark, rich black soil. Sounds good to me.
