THanks for the reply, the Fecon looks really nice, I just don't see the need for a fixed tooth mulching head for what I do. Most of the stuff I'm mulching is 4-5 inches or less, the other stuff gets chipped or hauled. To me, and from hearing from others, swinging hammers last longer in rocky areas, since they have some give. I usually get my hammers hard faced, and they go through a year usually unless I hit some really bad stuff.
I also like the leveling thing on the FAE, seems like it will help over rough terrain.
I don't know, I'm a little nervous. We'll see what happens during fire season how this whole things works out. We've used wheeled tractors for almost 30 years, and we're going to try the track loader thing. So far I've done alot of tree work with it like clearing out large debris and it's way way better.... but I'm nervous about the mowing part.
One other thing I was wondering about. The mulchers for skid steers/track loaders spin the same direction your traveling, and the mulchers for tractors, at least the ones we've had spin the opposite direction. Seems like it wouldn't cut as good, and you'd have to do a lot of reversing over stuff? But they probably make it that way for a reason?????
Hoping the season will go smooth
