Mahindra 5010 Cab w/ FEL & HD Cutter, New Holland C232 w/ FAE Mulcher
This will be the last thread for now about a machine. I just like to get y'all's opinion on machines from guys in the field.

Been thinking about the advice of finding a bigger machine to open more doors.

05' Bobcat T300 w/ 2100hrs.
Full cab, pilot controls, hi-flow aux hydros,
2speed, wide track. Comes with Tushhog mulcher head.
Asking $34k obo

IMO Mulcher is to narrow for the machine.
Cutter drum should be as wide or wider than the tracks.
Looks like a bunch of the cutter teeth are shot,..did you price out new ones?

Price seems a little steep for what your getting. A buddy of mine picked up a t320 with full forestry package including cab guarding, rear bumper/winch, and fecon bh74 for a $36k. Machine had new tracks and 1500hours. I have not ran a tushhogg so cant comment on teeth price but id look into it and demo it to see how it cuts if possible. Head does seem to be narrower than the machine though. If steel tracks are not an issue i know of a few Rayco 87's in the $30-40k price range.

Looks like the cab is not setup for forestry service. No guards for the hyd lines or cab and front door is probably too thin. Wipers will last a few mins. with a mulcher at most.
If/when a large object hits the front door while mulching you may/will be in bad shape. Or worse. Sprockets can be turned around but look rough. I've been in the mulching business for several years now and would pass on this one. If you want to mulch with it. Otherwise it "could" have some life left in it for something else.

I ran that same head when I first started my buisness. It looks like a tush Hogg 4800. The upside was the replacement teeth where @$33 a tooth . That's cheap in comparison to other brands on the market. The teeth where fairly forgiving in rock but left a coarse ground mulch. Also changing the teeth due to the configuration of the holders was a pain in the .... All in all the head was a decent head. I kept it as a back up after buying new head but didn't use it much.

I've got a Tushogg 6000 on my T320. It's a decent head, takes a lot of power to run it though.
2100 hours is a lot of hours if they were put on with the Tushogg.

Off the subject but before Tushhogg bought the distribution rights of the head, the teeth used to be $10 each. I bought them by the bucket. Amazing how you can change the head's name and poof, the parts triple in price. Bandit did that with Zenith cutter chipper blades. I was a Zenith Cutter factory direct customer for 10 years and when Bandit became sole distributor, the price tripled.

I guess money's just not worth as much as it once was.
I haven't bought any knives for my chipper in a few years. I was a Zenith customer, but at 3x the money I'll be shopping around. Ouch.
