Saw this on vacation last week and had to take a picture for TBN. First thing I thought about was jinman and his mule at our get togethers shuttling people around.

This was taking in Corpus Christi Tx at the USS Lexington. The trailer could carry 12 passengers. It was shuttling people along the pier to the hanger deck.

That is cool! I was just there in April and I didn't see it. I should pay more attention.

WOW! That's cool, James. I could have a regular sight-seeing bizz-nizz going if I had one of those. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Now let me see. . . hmm. I wonder how many round bales I could get on that gooseneck during the off-season? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Wonder if it could handle a 10' or 12' goose neck dump trailer. How handy would that be moving some dirt/mulch/gravel/wood etc around the property. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Maximum recommended towing weight is 1,500 lb. I guess you could push that to a ton, but that's pretty much maximum. So if you want to haul that 10' dump trailer around empty, you might be able to handle that. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Jim, I had no idea what the towing weight of a mule was. The trailer had a sign on it that said 12 person limit. With 12 people and the weight of the trailer he must be way over that. The most I saw on the trailer was 8 and the mule was doing a fine job of pulling.

There was a small incline up to the ship and it was concrete. So the smooth surface I'm sure helped. The trailer had one axle with golf cart wheels and located a very back of the trailer. The mule was seeing a lot of the load.

P.S. Don't blame me for part time jobs you can now pick up! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Unless you want to send me an idea finders fee! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, maybe not so handy /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Let me rephrase my previous statement... Wonder if it could handle a 10' or 12' goose neck dump trailer? How handy would that be moving some foam/feathers/air etc... around the property? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wonder if he's buffed up the suspension on that Mule then? It's really got to bottom out with a full load of passengers.

It's hard to believe that it can pull the trailer up the ramp (I have walked up it before) especially loaded with 12 people. If the average weight was 150 lbs each that is: a whopping 1,800 lbs of humanity!

After thinking about it, I think the towing issue with the gooseneck is not the same as the advertised towing weight. The mule comes with a built-in hitch that sits behind the rear axle. That's the one they specify for towing about 1,800 lb. When you use a gooseneck, you can add the "loaded" weight of the Mule's bed to the towing weight. That adds 1,200 lb. So we are talking about a combined load of 3,000 lb. 12 people averaging 175 lb is about 2100 lb. If the trailer weighs around 1,000 lb that would be pretty close to my rough 3,000 lb estimate. What do you think? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'll bet that Mule has no problem at all with that trailer.
