Anyone have any experience with the 3 in one machines? I'm looking at the Plasma/Tig/Stick machines.

I have a multi process machine, but without plasma, Lincoln V350-Pro. I've read where you want to be careful buying a unit that has a plasma, along with high frequency for Tig welding.

I have a Miller Multimatic 200 which is stick, MIG, lift TIG in a suitcase. Great mid range 110/220 welder and extremely portable. No plasma. Not cheap.

I sold my Passport and Maxstar and got the Multimatic for the same $$. Happy with it.

In the past, Mig Tig (and stick) with Plasma have not been a good program. I have ran a few and most have had a short life. However, technology now is such that nearly anything is possible..In the next 18 months or so you will see 6-8 brands that offer All in 1 machines. Technology has smoothed out the old issues of having mulitprocess makes no process very good. Those days are gone and you will soon see All in 1 units with fantastic characteristics and very good warranties. Welders have stayed the same for over 35 years, It's about time they evolve and that's what you will see. Already available are Mig,Tig,Stick units that are spoolgun ready and will do nearly anything the folks on here want to do for under a thousand bucks. Don't blink..Things are about to ramp up.

I have a couple of old ac arc welders and a 130amp mig welder so I was mostly looking for a Plasma cutter. With the price of the multipurpose machines not being much more than just a Plasma cutter I thought they would be a good deal.

I would also only be using occasionally on my own projects.

I have a Miller Multimatic 200 which is stick, MIG, lift TIG in a suitcase. I have never seen a machine so small put out production work. I called Miller before purchase and they assured me of it's capabilities so I bought it. Un boxed it hooked up the tank / spoog gun and I was welding Aluminum like a pro within the hour. I got a quote to do the job and it was more than buying the Multimatic and doing it on my own, so the machine paid for itselfon the first job. Did I mention how small this thing is - WHO KNEW.

I think that with if you are buying a unit primarily for the plasma, you should not look at the multi units with plasma. The plasma is a secondary function. It's much better to buy a separate unit.
