With all these new attachment one can buy now for there tractors, /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gifit seem we only have to get off to refuel or get a bite to eat and call it a day./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Remember the times while draging a old car hood and placing the stones on it from the fields, and once you got a load than you headed for the nearest stone wall.
To level the land you drag what ever you could put together. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

If you got cold while working the tractor you just bundle up more. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Those zero or colder mornings you hope the tractor would start or the hill you park on was steep enought to jump start./w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

I'm kinda glad those day are gone, and if I keep rambling on you figure out my age. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

You are not the only one Thomas. We used to load the rocks on a sled pulled by two mules. All the farmers piled the roks beside the county road and the county would send out a huge rock crusher pulled by a Caterpiller and crush the rocks. It would then be spread on the roadway. Many county roads were graveled that way. That was in 48 & 49. I was 10 years old. JIM

HEY HEY!!!
I was just thinking of how I'd get a bunch of 4-6 foot small logs up a hill to steep to take the tractor down and the thought of strapping them to a car hood popped into my head!

Good minds think a like, huh?

Howdy Doody, Sky King, Superman (BW) that's how old I am.

What's wrong with draggin an old car hood around? I use one that came from a 1988 Chev. Corsica that my son re-arranged the front end on. During the winter the old hood becomes my wood sled. A length of chain, the old hood, a trusty tractor and I can move about 1/2 cord of wood in two trips. I've also used it back in the woods in the fall to load logs on and dragged it up to my barn where I've got more room to cut and split stuff up and can then move the splits right onto the wood pile.

There nothing wrong useing a old car hood, matter of fact when the has a load one can just about do two jobs at once I found out.
Haul what you need to haul plus smooth the ground, also there no tires to repair./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I refuse to admit any knowlege of stone boats, sore backs, smashed fingers from unloading the boats, or any of the other pleasurable things my Dad let me participate in as a youth.
