Got a delivery date on the 990 I ordered: Sept 4, a little over 2 months from when I ordered it. They already got the loader with 4-in-1.

The surprising thing is that MX-6 is going to be delayed further (no idea of when at this point). Are MX-6s hard to get? I figured that would be the kind of thing that dealers would be able to get in a few days.

I sure hope I get a chance to use it before winter.

Where are you located? There was a brand new MX6 in todays Oregonian newspaper for an asking price of $1700.

I am also think about getting a bush hog for my 990 , earlier I asked here as to what would be the best size ,,, wider or narrower than the wheels , it came back to me that JD only recomended the MX5 or the lighter LX5,6's for the 990 . I would be intrested as to how the MX6 works , or not on the 990 . I know the spec's on the tractor and the bush hog are within weight wise but could the balance be the problem ,, the weight vs. the length? Please post your findings .
Thanks
Bill G.

I would stick with a 5 footer on a 990. I'm running an MX6 on a 4600 with 4 in 1 and the hydraulics just barely keep up at 540 rated rpm. Also the mower tailwheel still hangs over on a 20' trailer. I do think that the MX series is by far the best mower I've ever operated

Do either of you know how the width of the 990 (w/R4s) compares to the width of the MX-5 and MX-6? I hadn't noticed the fact that the 6 wasn't recommended on JD's site.

I had the dealer check and the width of the 990 with R4s is 64", so I will stick with the MX6. I want to be able to trim around (and up to) buildings with it, and with the MX5 I wouldn't be able to get close enough.

I don't know what my tire width is (R-4's), but I do know that I swapped to the inside wheel flange from the factory setting. I believe that is about the third setting out, can still load on the trailer easily, is very stable, and allows close cuts around fences and buildings.

There are some at a dealer in OH for $1870 w/ both chain guards.
