I used my MX-6 for the first time this week end. I figured enough leaves had fallen off of the brush to see the hidden stumps and rocks.
I had been using a Sears 32cc bruch cutter, you know the kind with a saw blade and handle bars.
I was a little aprehensive to start and took it slow and easy.
After an hour I was driving the 4320 onto brush of two inches in diameter with a big smile on my face.
I cleared about an acre and a half in about three hours going real easy as there are a few stumps and rocks to avoid.
Pictures will follow. I took a before and now need to get the after and learn to post them.
The MX-6 seems to be more than up to the task and every time from here on will be much easer as the growth will never get any higher than a foot or so.
Safety first when using this attachment! It realy could be a death machine if used with bad judgment.

BigGary,
I haven't cleared as much as you have, but I was in awe of my MX6 the only time I tried it. I have a Sears Brushwacker also, and my back can only take about an hour of twisting and turning before I call it quits with that. The size of the brush the MX6 takes out is great. The literature says 2", but not necessarily how many at one time. I went through some willows that averaged 1-2" diameter, probably 5 feet over the tractor hood. The 4320 didn't even notice. My Farmall H with 5' Woods brush hog would have taken half as much and bogged the engine down in doing that. The torque of the engines is really the key to success with a hog. I know the smile, Tim (toolman) Taylor and us have the same tastes in machinery. More power...

I was wacking down oak, maple and hickery that are a lot harder than willow. The machine just smashes them into splinters. I expect three to four years of mowing three or four times and all of the now smashed splinter top stumps will rot to the point that they will all pull out of the groung while mowing. I was glad that these stumps had soft splintered tops and where no danger to the tires. The M in MX-6 stands for mighty! I for one feel that in a high impact attachment such as this the extra $ up front will payoff down the road.
One thing that Happned twice is brush opened the quick disconnects and prevented using the FEL untill I stopped and figured it out. I will be looking at making a guard for this area.
I didn't like the looks of all of that uprotected plumbing down at the bottom of the machine from the start. And now the first time I use it i know why.
John Deer, YOU LISTENING?

Yup, the MX6 is awesome.

If you are in brush, consider getting the rental upgrade kit, which has the skid plates...

Rocky,
I will contact the dealer soon about it. I'm certain the problem will show up again and I have about eight more acres that need trails and cutting to some extent. Thanks for the idea.

One of the things that impresses me the most about a cutter the size/mass of my MX6 is how long it takes to wind down from PTO speed, even with the PTO brake. There be a lot of energy stored back there. Intimidating.

Keep the shiny side up.
