MX4800--5800 Backhoe buckets

I have a question for anyone that has seen or used a 36" bucket on an MX series tractor.
Kubota lists an 36" bucket as an option for the BH92 Backhoe.

I talked to my dealer for advise and they had never seen a 36" bucket on any of the Kubota's that have went threw their dealership.

They advised me against even thinking about that large of a Bucket for my tractor.

I already have the 12" and 24" buckets and I am looking at digging a very large pond on property I own and it looks like a 36" bucket would help me cut the digging time down a bit.

Any advise or information that anyone could give me.

I saw a landscaper with a 36" bucket on his BH92 hoe. He used it for grading embankments and mucking out ponds with his MX5800. He said it wasn't of much use in excavating except in sand or very soft soil. The tractor and hoe don't weigh enough for the wide bucket to penetrate harder soil.

I also have both the 12 and 24" buckets for my BH92 / MX5800. Based on my own experience, I tend to agree with the guy. Unless you're digging in very soft material, I doubt you will find the 36" bucket useful.

I've dug a few small ponds over the years. I usually use the 12" bucket to rip & loosen soil, then excavate and remove it with the FEL.

personally i'd hire a dozer, a "very large" pond will take forever to excavate, and agree, 36" is too large a bite for efficient excavation on a tractor that size

I have every kind of dirt you can have on my property from solid rock to soft fluff clay type stuff

I am currently welding on Bullet rock teeth to 3 of my backhoe teeth for my 12" bucket to rip into the rocky stuff.

I have dug into the soft stuff with the 24" bucket and it go's threw it like butter. That is why I was looking for advise about the 36" bucket. Thanks for the advice
