kubota m4900 with loader
I am looking at the mx5000 did not get a chance to drive one, but the dealers keep telling me not to buy the mx5000 that I will not like them. to go with the grand L series ,but the 5000 seems to have more room as I am 6`2" and 230 lbs.I sat on them when dealer was closed ,but spoke to them on phone , they do not like the shuttle shift on the 5000 mx,keep pushing for the gst trann. on the 5030 grand L tractor , and he just did not realy want to talk much about the mx5000. am I missing something wrong about the mx5000 or do they want to sell these more higher priced tractors could used some help on the pros and cons about the mx5000 thanks

Hey, Kully!

I haven't had a chance to look at that machine... it's a little out of my league. I bought an L2800 -- gear trans, shuttle, etc., but before the purchase had one dealer actually tell me that Kubota "doesn't make stick tractors anymore -- nobody wants them." Ha!! This outright lie reflected his desire for profit at my expense, with no consideration for my real needs.
I like my L2800. Alot. Sure, an HST would be convenient, quicker etc., but you have to decide what you really want. There are posts here where members expressed the opinion that if you're doing hours of ground engagement (real farmin') work that a gear tractor is better than HST. If you're dong landscape work, HST would probably be better. Define your current and potential needs, drive the models and go with your gut. Hit this forum with lots of questions -- there are many helpful and often very experienced tractor owners out there who give their .02 willingly everyday.

Best of luck

Charley

Kully,
I had the opposite situation. My dealer really pushed the MX5000 above the L series because I gave him my need for Hp within a reasonable cost. It is just a basic tractor, but I don't find this a problem. I got a Woods loader with the package and it was just delivered last week. I like the size and Hp - the MX has the front end of the M series and the rear of the L. It's not tested yet, so I'll know more later. Good luck in your search.
