I've just bought a slightly used MX5100 from a friend. The brush forks were connected to the front loader. My friend told me that the bucket was very hard to hook up, so I expected to have some problems. This is the LA844 loader and the L2235A bucket, which seems to be a valid combination. The problem is with the clearance between the top "catch" of the loader and the pins clearing the slot at the bottom of the bucket. With the pins retracted to the limit, they still won't clear the slot. I spent quite a bit of time making sure the top catch was seated as far as it will go, and there is nothing obstructing it. I'm left with the possibility of modifying the bucket in some way to give it more clearance.

Is this a common problem? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

A picture would help correct the issue, are you talking a ssqa attachment for the bucket and forks?

SSQA mis-aligned.jpg

It is a SSQA. As I studied the loader a few moments ago, I noticed that the "Shoes" (for lack of the proper nomenclature) are slightly mis-aligned. Odd, in that there is no apparent damage or warping to the loader. I attached a yardstick to one of the shoes and aligned it to the front edge. I missed the other shoe by more than an inch. There should be a picture attached.

Your SSQA torque tube is twisted (cross tube running between the shoes) and its not keeping the shoes aligned.
We see this all the time on TBN.
It is also very likely the reason you are having issues attaching the bucket.
Just twist the torque tube back straight, or cut the tube, align the shoes and reweld the tube.
Easy fix.

Vince hit it on the head! Always make sure the attachment area is clean when attaching the quick attach to a bucket or what ever attachment you may be using. Do not try and use when not attached as this is an end result of it.

I had the same thing happen to my loader. In my case the fit of the OEM bucket was tight, but not so that it was hard to latch. The other implements had a looser fit, this extra slop was what allowed the tube to twist out of shape, eventually making the bucket impossible to latch on one side.

The forks are pretty sturdy. Think I'll hook up the forks to one side and use leverage to re-align the tube. What could go wrong. Lol.

Yep, many threads about bent QA.

Put the side that is too far out against an immovable object and slowly curl the other side out to match.
