mx5100 dt
I am signing papers in the morning for a new 2013 mx5100 gear model with 844 loader. Paying 26,500 with rim gaurd filled rears and bale spear for the front. They are giving me 11k for my 2006 l3400dt with la463 loader with 330hrs. The l3400 has done everything I have asked except lift wet 4x5 hay rolls. My spear is mounted in the bucket so maybe if I converted the loader and bucket to quick attach that would be solved but then I wouldnt have a new tractor. What I want to know is at this price is there something better to consider or is the 5100 the best choice and is this a good price? Also I am using my 2000 loyalty cash coupon for total price of 24500 out the door on this.

Things I do with my tractor:
Till 2ac with 6' kingcutter
Cut 30ac hay with ccm165, rake with 5 wheel rake, square bale5 ac with mf #3
Bush hog 5 ac a year with 6' mower
Maintain 3400' gravel driveway

That's's a nice tractor. I sure like my MX.

Price seems pretty good. You didn't mention if it's hst or geared, or if you're getting any remotes added. I paid 24.5 for mine, hst, no remotes, no bale spear.

If it is a geared model, you could also check out the m5640. Not much more money.

b_z_genius (Welcome to TBN b_z_) did say he's looking at a '13 mx5100 gear model w/ 844 loader. If motownbrowne paid the same 24,5 for his with HST then it doesn't sound like that great of a deal as HST's sell for more than geared models. If it were me I'd sell the L3400DT for more than the dealer is giving for trade in and use that as a downpayment and bargain for a better price or at least more options such as rear or front remotes, loaded tires, implements, HST, or whatever.
Check steenent.com for tractor package prices. They can get (currently out of stock) a 2014 MX5100 HST w/ loader, 6' Howse bush hog, box blade, hyd. remote, Husqvarna 240 chainsaw and a 20' 10K trailer w/ chains and binders for $32,4 cash or 33,4 financed. The gear model pkg is 31K cash or 32K financed. They are in South Carolina.

Don't all 2014 have the new tier 4B engines? That's what I am trying to avoid. It seems that dealers are not negotiating to much with these tier 4a engines now that they are in high demand. Also motownbrowne has the mx4700 not the mx5100 so that might be the difference.

My 3400 is well used and was my first tractor and I only gave 14k for it from the same dealer in 2007.I am sure it will need brakes soon(left parking brake on many times for long periods of use) and clutch has been sticking on when used heavily with loader so you have to turn it off to get it to disengage, and it has the jerky 3 pt hitch.

Looked at steenent.com as suggested and 5500 more than what I am buying financed so I'm sure the trailer, bushhog , box blade, and saw could be bought for about the sam e and I have them all but the trailer which I don't need either.

Sorry, didn't look at motownbrowne's avatar. Only read he paid 24.5 for his and assumed he had a 5100. My mistake. Also didn't know you were trying to avoid the tier 4B's. I guess 11k trade in is good considering what you bought it for. Best of luck with your purchase.

i have nothing bad to say about my MX but like Motownbrown mentionned you should check out the M5640_ a more substantial machine with a stronger loader thats unless your mind is set on avoiding tier4 at all cost .

You really should at least look into the M models. A lot more tractor for not much more $$$$. Might want to think about a couple of rear remotes with whatever tractor you get. With that much drive to maintain, I sure would be thinking about a top & tilt set. Sure makes life easier, especially for grading purposes. ;)

I just went and built an M5640SU with quite a few options.(how I would build it for myself) and it lists out for 36,189, so 15% off of that gets you at 30,600. That is a lot more tractor than the MX5100.

Really something that you ought to consider IMO.

Good luck:thumbsup:

Love my MX5100, but if for some reason I needed to make a change, there are several other models that I could love also. M5640 has the LA1007 loader which is spec'd at around 2500 lb. and at 5000 lb for curl off the ground. Can't knock that. And be sure you don't need a cab model. I like working out in the open, even the winter, but lots of people don't.
