I like the cutter. I only have 42.5 hp, and can still go pretty fast in the thickest stuff I have been in. But bear in mind, this cutter is only rated to cut 1.5" stuff. I haven't pushed it in that aspect. If I get I to jobs like that, I use my bushhog 306. This is mainly a pasture mower for speed. And I keep blades pretty sharp.
I don't much care for the blade bolt design. I'd rather have a threaded bolt and big nut as opposed to this keeper thingy.
If you read any of my other posts about rotary cutters over the last 5 years, I don't care about cutter or tractor specs. Or what has become the so highly recommend norm of 5hp per ft.
If this cutter were about 400# lighter, I would have a moment hesitation about running it on my old 29 pto hp
l3400. And was actively looking for a lighter 8' like the howse, Titan, Kodiak, etc.
And I am still looking for a 10' cutter for my Mx. In about 40 hours of mowing time, 60 hours of total seat time and over 100 acres cut, I have yet to have to slow down because I lacked power.
I have had to slow down because cut quality. Which seems to be in thick grass, it cannot expel it as fast as I have the power to mow it. And I have had to slow down because of rough fields and obsticals.
But when I say I have had to slow down, keep in mind I like to run medium range and pedal to the floor or close to it. That's 6-7mph. So slowing down to me is 3-5mph, which is all the faster most people run.
