I've been trying to do some research regarding adding wheel weights to my MX5200 with the R4 tires. I have been doing quite a bit of FEL work with my tractor using my land pride box blade and my tires loaded as balance and it just doesn't seem like it's enough. I can fairly easily lift my rear wheels off the ground. Does anyone else with this tractor or similar added wheel weights. I spoke with my dealer today and for 440lbs of weight they quotes me 870$, which seems pretty high compared to what I've seen. Will 440lbs be enough to keep the rear tires planted?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I put 440 lbs on my MX5100. Made a world of difference, that thing really digs in now. Don't remember what I paid, but the Kubota ones went on in 15 minutes, each wheel. You will be more than pleased with the investment.

Thanks for the information. Steppenwolfe, do you have any pictures of your tractor with the weights installed?

My L5240 is very similar in size, weight and loader specs. It has loaded R4 tires, plus wheel weights and it is not enough. I moved some dirt a few weeks back and had to put the dozer weights (approx 1000lbs) on the 3pt hitch so I wasn't balancing on the front axle.

Once I have all three, it's a good solid feel, even on hills.

I use mine with 1100 pounds of equipment on the 3PH along with fluid in my tires and about 400 lbs. of wheel weight. I got a special deal on my wheel weights when the parts guy gave me the wrong quote and delivered the wrong weights. He kept with the original price then free shipping and mounting, otherwise about a dollar a pound I think.

I added 2 sets to my L4400, and added 8 saddle weights to the sides of my grader box as insurance. Plus it makes the grader box work better.

Get a 55 gallon barrel, devise a 3pt hook up and fill it with cement. 1000 lbs counter balance for probably less than $100. Plus you can drop it when not needed.
