I have an 1816 HST, maybe 20 hours on it. When going forward it doesn't always stop when the go pedal is released, and it's driving forward, not just rolling. Tapping the pedal for reverse will stop it. This problem is only with forward travel, releasing the pedal in reverse it stops, no issue.

Is there an adjustment for this? I really don't want to trailer it 100 mile round trip if I can take care of this myself.

Typically, these pedals need a good annual cleaning out of the pivot and a lube job. Unless the pedal moves, pivots, freely, this is the result. So, you've been under the pedal to put eyes on the pivot and linkage?

Yeah, the linkage looks/feels fine. If it was sticky I would expect to have the same problem stopping from reverse.

Not necessarily. Likely there is one rod that controls the swash plate, and it may have a damper on it that works freely one direction but not the other. May take some detective work to isolate the problem, or to get the adjustment correct.

The pedal resting position is defined by a roller running in a metal V. The centering force is pretty strong and I don't believe the pedal is failing to return to the resting position. The end result of the pedal/linkage is a crank rotating a shaft into the transmission. The crank is locked to the shaft with a bolt and locking nut (which appears to be the only possible adjustment in the linkage). My guess would be that the shaft needs rotating relative to the crank but I would like confirmation from someone with specific knowledge of this tractor before I screw it up.

I have an 1815 HST and when I first got it the pedal would be slow to return to the neutral position ,so it would continue going forward.
There is a spring on this pedal that you can adjust the tension on.
This fixed the issue for me.
