Here a while back I was looking where to put oil in my tractor which is fairly new and didn't need any. I just wanted to know where to put it. When I pulled the cap off where the oil goes I pulled a hose off, I guess it when to emissions or though it did. Anyway when I started it Service Eng light came on. I shut it down and looked and found the hose and reconnected and tightened so it wouldn't come off.
Called the dealer and he said he doubted I could clear the Eng light with my code reader I have for my truck. Couple of days later I notice tractor does not want to pull the hat off your head. Call the deal and he said its in limp mode which was kinda what I thought, my truck did it once.
So I load it up and take it to the dealer and hour away, J5 Tractor in Buna, Texas. I am not crazy about putting it on the trailer and driving an hr, but the guys at J5 are great guys and we talk hunting and cut up.
They put a communicator on it and the Tech asked me, when you bought this did they do any upgrades or set up. I said heck if I know, I bought a new tractor. He said the reason it when it limp mode was I had started it to many times without letting the computer initialize. I said sometimes I get in a hurry and just turn the key, he said you can't do that unless you want to keep bringing the tractor back so you and Jody the service Mgr and talk deer hunting. He didn't think it had anything to do with the hose I pulled off. I kinda got the idea it was possible something from the factory or after may not have been set up right based on him asking me about setup etc.
Anyway, he loaded the latest firmware for my tractor, started it revved it a time or two and said you are good to go.
Got it home backed if off the trailer, it liked to have jumped out from under me. It ran good before it when into limp but now its feakin zippy or I'm mistaken.
I have to remember not to get in a hurry and just hit the key!!!
