Hello! Been sometime since I've posted.
I have a 4340 w/ 3,000 hrs. on it. It has been down for the past year due to power steering issues. I finally got it fixed and mowed last night with it for 20 mins and had the following observations:
1. High pitch winding sound when moving forward or backward. Sound goes away when tractor is stopped.
2. During operation, the parking brake indicator light comes on and off randomly. When I push down on the already down lever, light goes off. When I let go, its just a matter of time before it comes back on.
3. After 20 minutes there was a terrible smell. When I inspected the tractor there was smoke coming off the rear end on the left and right side.
My conclusion is that the parking brake will not disengage. The pedal brakes work fine when pressed. My suspicion is that since it sat for a year broken with the parking brake engaged, it is now stuck?
Does anyone have any experience with this? Can someone tell me if it is possible to check this without disassembling anything?
