Did my 50 hour service myself, went and bought the NAPA hudraulic filter (1202) the dealer told me. But a 1202 was not in the box it happened to be a fuel filter with the same threads. Which left me with a bill for 6 hours of diagnostics @ $80 per.

Examples like this are why I NEVER trust the schmucks behind the parts counter. Sure, some of them MAY know what they are talking about, but I've found that the vast majority wouldn't know a (INSERT PART HERE) from a hole in the ground.

I just replaced the hydraulic filter on my NH TC55DA and it was 212 CAD incl tax (no shipping).

My experience (63 years) has been just the opposite. If you are a regular customer at NAPA, you know who to go to when you walk in the door, and they bend over backwards to help you. At the dealer it's you that gets to bend over .............Just my experience............

A Napa 1202 is the 10 micron hydraulic filter I use on the F.a.s.s system on my big trucks caterpillar engine fuel system. could it be that 10 micron filter was to restrictive?
They put a 1202 back on it and gave me back the filter that I installed. Is it normal to have the hydraulic filter on the suction side of the hydraulic pump? All the equipment I use at work have filters on the return side so you do not starve the pump and burn it up.

Just a reminder to us all - me included. There are several things every technician and parts replacer should remember and that is to make sure the part in the box looks the same as the one you are replacing; make sure the part is not damaged or altered and, if the new part has a number the number matches the box and the product you purchased. If something looks out of place find out why.
