Knute, thanks for the info on the solenoid location. I was looking in the wrong part of the engine manual for it. Looked at my own engine and that doesn't like an easily accessible part if it needs replacement.
My always reliable Mahindra 2015 (gear) 4WD suddenly stopped starting

At least you didn't misread the model number like I did. But I believe all of the 15 series have the same engine.Hey, I was close ..... [[[

Did some further digging in my collection of 2216 documents. Screen shot below of the schematic (you may have this already) of the solenoid and how it connects to the running DC supply (holding coil I believe) and the starter circuit which provides the initial pull in and then de-energizes. If you've got a meter and can find the points to check it may help.

i'm hoping it is just corroded contacts in the connector. There aren't many things I won't do, but after reading the procedure in the Mahindra service manual and then in the Mitsubishi service manual, I'm not sure I want to personally tackle replacement of that solenoid. The tractor is about 20 miles from my place, which doesn't help. It appears from the drawings and photos that it is not easy to get at. Then it looks like a new gasket will need to be put on the governor cover using a sealant I've never heard of. I also don't have a small open ended torque wrench.
I'm hoping I can con my grandson-in-law into helping. He grew up on a farm fixing everything from little engines to big diesels. He is just working a lot of hours this time of year.

If it is cranking over have you tried a SMALL squirt of starting fluid? If it starts and runs it's glow plugs related , if starts then dies it's fuel

They make starting fluid designed/approved for use in diesels.
It may run enough to get the bucket corrected and in a position it could be pushed or winched onto a trailer.
