I bought my B21 in 2007 and just used regular low sulfur Diesel available at the gas station, but lately it seemed to be down on power and it didn't push and scoop dirt as well as it did years ago, so I was reading about the new ULSD fuel and how some older diesels don't like it much and read about mixing 2 cycle oil in to help, so I just tried mixing up a batch 100 to 1 with some Husqvarna 2 cycle I had and now my B21 runs smoother and pushes and scoops like it used to, anyone else tried this?

I use 0.5 oz per gallon of two cycle in my B21 and it seems to run a lot 'smoother'. I use the same mix in my 2001 sierra 2500 Duramax.

Interesting, hadn't heard that before. Hope people will chime in with thoughts.

Its pretty common in the diesel pickup truck world to mix two cycle oil with your diesel. I'm not convinced it works, but I've also read some stuff that says it works.

I've been doing that for years..... Adding two stroke oil at the rate of about 3/4 oz. oil per gallon of ULSD. Have also tried the Opti-Lube XPD in the wintertime. Can't say as how any of this has made a noticeable difference in the way our trucks or tractors run. But it hasn't hurt them and makes me feel better.

I've been mixing 3/4 ounces per gallon of diesel in my little B6100 for some time now and it appears to make a lot of difference, especially in starting. It also seems like the engine doesn't have as much "knock" as it used to.

The article where I read about this subject also said to use marine 2 cycle oil, because of the lower ash content.

One of the guys on Dieselplace.com did a very technical review of lubricity and the marine 2 cycle oil did very well compared other additives (most much more expensive). It ranked 7th in the list of effectiveness and one of the least expensive.

IIRC, the original thread was eventually closed and a second one opened if you want to read several hundred more comments.

I really should be adding some to my B21 and B2710.

I used to hear about guys dumping a quart of ATF in their trucks tank before fill up. Does nobody do that anymore? I thought for sure it would have been in the test.

Red ATF? I would really fear it looking like off road diesel if they ever tested your tank. IDK about any advantages but the $5000 fine would not make it worthwhile for me.
