Tractor
07 Kioti DK45 SE HST/401 FEL
I thought I would post this in hopes it may help someone else down the line. I have been wanting to upgrade from a Sotah 630D for a while. I was after a lightly used tractor in the 35 to 45 hp range and under $17k. It had to have a loader, 4wd, and preferably a hydrostatic trans. I was not brand specfic, but was favoring Kioti because of size, weight, features, lift cap, and price. I could not find anything around here in my price range. I started to search tractor sites on the internet. Over a few months I found a few tractors close to what I was looking for and in my budget. I talked to a lot of dealers around the country and got a lot of good advice. The vast majority of the dealers I talked to were good honest people, only 1 or 2 did I not feel good about. They are in business to sell a lot of tractors not just one. I also found out they ship a lot of what they sell to New England, go figure. Ask a lot of questions. You may find there are mistakes in the ads and you'll find out how much they know about what they are selling. One 200 hr tractor auctually had 1200hr. Talk to shipping companies to get feel for shipping costs from different parts of the country. I lost out on a couple of deals waiting for a shipping quote. I bought an 07 DK45 HST from R&R Dexter Farms in Danforth, IL and had it shipped to Maine by Best Ways Brokerage. I will give both companies good recomendations. I could not be happier with the tractor and I figure I saved a couple thousand.

I never felt comfortable buying something sight unseen but you can certainly find some great deals out there. Glad it worked out for you, that DK45 is a real nice tractor!

I agree that sight unseen is not ideal. However it was that way or I would continue to beat the 630D to death doing things it was just too small for. This is the second big ticket item I have bought on the internet. My wife's suv came from Florida. Thank you for your reply. This site is invaluable because of members like you.

Glad things worked out. Great tractor.

Had you tried Craigslist with one of the programs like SearchTempest to search regionally?

I sometimes plug in Kioti and search. There always seems to be one or two DK class machines somewhere in NE to mid Atlantic states.

I searched craig's list, ebay, and all the tractor sites I could find. I did find a couple in Virginia and North Carolina, but they sold while I was waiting for shipping quotes. I do not even know where the nearest Kioti dealer is that would have any inventory. There are always a couple around , but I could not find HST, low hours, and good price.

Your right, this is an awesome tractor.

I have not heard of SearchTempest. I will have to try it out.

searchtempest is the only way to fly on Craig's to wade through all the crap to just what you're looking for...

Good luck with your new toy, them 45's are sweet tractors.
