Looking at a possible 72" Woods Box (possible deal from a Friend), however the website shows that it requires 40-70 engine hp for the 72"-84" BBs, so I am just short, will it be a big deal?

I was looking at a new 72" Befco which is around 530 lbs which would make it almost 100lbs lighter than the Woods, not sure if the weight diff is enough to matter. I also know the Befco will work with my CK35 Gear, however if the woods turns out to be as good of a deal as I am told it will be, I wanted to make sure my machine could handle it... :D

TIA

Will it "handle" it. Well you will always be able to stop your entire machine by hooking the rippers of even a four foot box on a stump. You would be able to handle any box that your machine could lift, 8' box?, if you don't need it for heavy work.

It depends on how you use it. I have never had a problem moving around an overflowing box full of crushed gravel with my 60" box.

This is just like a brush hog, as long as you can attach it to your tractor you can get some use out of even a very oversized implement.

Good point, I was speaking more toward grading a driveway and moving stump free earth with no large rocks. :D

Now that you say it, I actually think the Befco I was looking at was a 60" so that one would be the width of my tires at that point.

The woods would only stick out 6" on each side, however it would have around 3 cubic feet (give or take) more box space than a 60" woods. (Not sure about the Befco or others).

What brand is your BB?

I have the frontier brand which has been very stout and trouble free with my HST CK30. It is 60" wide so that it covers my tracks. I have used it a lot, my best implement.

I used a 6'er with my CK30 for 2.5 years with no problems at all. The 30 was capable of bending the ripper supports when hooking on monster rocks. I have a 7' HD box for the new DK40. Go for the 6'!

HB - Green, nice. They look like they would hold up quite well.

Motor - of'course you would say go for the 6' after I have been dealing for the 7' all night. :D

Guess I will see what happens, if the deal for the 7' does not pan out, I will be in the market for a 6' for sure. My dealer has a nice looking Befco that I might just have to pick up. He is giving me a good deal as well, howere I can afford the used one today.

Thanks guys... Time to go make room to fit the 7'er in, just in case.

Thanks for the replys..

No go on the 72" Woods, not that I don't think it could have done the job, just not the deal I was hoping for.

I really needed a BB by this weekend so I went over to TSC to see what they had and wound up grabbing a 60" BB by FarmForce for under $400. Figured at that price, how could I go wrong. The quality was not bad either, looked to have strong welds and size/thinkness of steel like the others.

Now, just to paint it black or orange... hmmmm

Yes, my frontier is green. JD green. I ould paint it but then every time it gets scratched it will look silly with green underneath.

I Hear ya, it kida bugged me that there was and area or two that were down to metal from sitting out, however it's not that big of a deal, what's funny is that one area is right next to the sticker that states "Heavy Duty Powder Coating"

yeah, right...

Guess I can't complain for the price. :D
