She wanted one before I left in May of 2006 for Iraq, but a horse barn took priority. After looking at various playhouses on-line and knowing that if I had to do it from scratch that it would probably not get done, I ordered this kit from Lowes. It is called a Mackinaw building. It is 12 X 8 and you can order it up to a 12 X 20. The kit comes with the walls and roof panels, but without roofing material or a floor. I added the front porch myself, however they offer that as an accessory. included with the kit are wood screws of various lengths, nails, and interior trim pieces. The windows and doors and pre-hung in their panels. The wall panels and roof panels are 4 X 8 and very well made. The instructions call for a Phillips screw driver or an optional power drill. Are they crazy? The holes aren't pre-drilled! It went together very well except for the 4 X 8 roof sections. Those things were heavy. Oh, the instructions also call for a second person. I agree. I put this thing together by myself and the roof panels almost kicked my butt, especially the two over the porch.

Nice looking house. I really like the stained look.
I built my daughter a playhouse from scratch several years ago and spent too much money. I wish I would have looked into something like you did. I ended up wiring it for cable, phone and electric, but only had it hooked up for a little while. I insulated it and had insulated windows in it thinking it would be a good place for kids to get warm when out in the snow, but getting warm comes with eating so they always came inside!!!! I made hers 6' X 10' X 6' and kinda wish I would have went with the higher ceiling like you did with yours. I'm sure your daughter will enjoy it for many years to come. Just keep a check for bees. I had a nest of yellow jackets under hers which were tough to get rid of.

I will try to get some pics this afternoon. I have not stained the interior yet. The inside walls look pretty much like the exterior. It has the "log" look, but flatter. I was thinking before it came in that I would need to sheet rock it or put paneling up, but there is no need for that.
