History,
I called my dealer two weeks ago to get prices on several items I wanted for my TC40d. I was told that they would call me back. 2 day later I got a phone call and the prices. I called last week to order all the parts. I was told that they needed to look up everything again and that they would get back to me. Again two days later, I got a phone call. Every item that I got a price on the week before was different. I pointed that out and asked for the quote to be in writing and faxed to me. After getting the fax, I called back and placed the order. Leter that afternoon, I got a phone call and they said that the prices were wrong and that it would be more money. That is three different prices in three contacts.
I don't have a choice. The three NH dealers in the driving distance are all owned by Bertold Equipment and all three are just as bad.
They know you don't have a choice and act that way.
Does anyone know a good internet (mail order) NH dealer?
Just venting!
Bob

Not making excuses for a dealer who can't come up with good information. However, realize that calls to a dealer just to get prices takes up a lot of their time. Likely they know by now that most of those calls are for price checks, against other sources, and now with eBay, we call to find out just how high we can bid (I did that last week on a power beyond kit - it was $190 through my dealer, and the eBay one sold for a total of $207.50 given that there was a $30 shipping charge). So I can't fault a dealer not keeping up with all phone inquiries. Just that one doesn't know who is a big potential customer or an inquirerer. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Sorry for your dilema.

My take on this is if a dealer has better things to do than to help a potential customer and actually look up the part/price then they should reply with a simple ballpark price/figure.

At least that way the potential customer won't be driven away or insulted when he/she decides to write the check but a few days later and the price turns out to be vastly different.

Try Messick's .
I agree that Messicks is good, but shipping to CA might eat up any savings.

If giving out prices takes up a lot of their time, then dealers ought to figure out how to provide prices to potential customers that takes less of their (the dealer's) time. Web sites are a great way to get this information out at very little cost.

If you push it.. they have to honor their quote they faxed to you.. their mistake.. they have to eat the cost.

Good point about the quote.

As far as Messicks goes...At least they will get it right the first time. If you are only concerned with finding the absolute lowest price, you may have to deal with lousy service to get it.

If you are looking for excellent service and the right parts the first time....go with Messicks. I have been dealing with them via internet and telephone and have found them to be fantastic to deal with. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I never said all I was interested in was the lowest price. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I bought my tractor at Messicks and get all my service parts there.

I understand the part about the phone calls being a hassle, with few actual sales. I can see the dealer's sie of that in a way.

But, the paper copy - that is sort of a contract, & kinda should be honored.

Period.

Giving 3 different prices is - poor buisiness.
