Well I've been playing in the dirt for over a month now building what I'm calling my dirt garden. It's really a track for radio controlled cars but I've got too much darn time into this project to just call it a track so I've decided the title garden is more fitting. Anyway the tc45 is still running great with over 100 hours on it now.

Wow...

I just got a visual of driving on a full-scale version of that track...

I think I'll go lay down for a while & see if my stomach settles.

It's funny you say that because I usually build motocross tracks and I basically came up with what I thought would be a cool full scale layout for dirt bikes and scaled it down for the little cars. I'd love to have a full scale copy of this track to ride on!

In my younger days I used to hang out with some buddies and we would race our RC-10's. Always had a great time:D .

By the looks of your track, I would guess that 9 volt battery power is not going to get it. I assume your cars are gas powered.

I do remember it was an expensive hobby 20 years ago. I can only imagine what it costs now:eek: .

Yes my cars are nitro powered. I actually have 2 rc10's right now....great little trucks. As far as the cost I think it's actually cheaper now than ever. Granted if you want to top notch set up you can spend a fortune but you can get a ready to run (comes assembled and includes motor and radio gear) nitro stadium truck, kinda like the rc10, for $200.00. There are so many companies making this stuff these days (even china) thats it's really made it fairly affordable to get into it.

I got into RC planes and trucks a long time ago, the prices now to then are like 1/10th the cost now vs then. I have easy $1500. into a nice RC trainer setup all hand built by me from a KIT balsa plane with hb20 engine. now you can buy similar performance less than 200... :( I don't have place or time to play anymore so it sets waiting until I retire or croke...

that is very impressive track though. now where are the bleachers and drivers podium??? :D

I've got a basement full of r/c planes as well, all sitting ready to go. I just got tired of hauling them around every time I wanted to fly them. As far as a drivers stand goes thats next on the list then I need a better watering system and more money! My little track project has gotten expensive very quickly. I've blown through $200 in diesel fuel and that 4" drain tube cost me over $400 (there's 1000 feet of it) but it's all part of the game I guess.

Wow, backyard, that is an impressive looking piece of precision work.

Did you use GPS or just dead reckoning and the ol' eyeball? Which one gets the most work building this thing, the skid-steer or the tractor?

I am most impressed.......:)

Yes I tried to make everything look perfect and it was all done by eye. The tractor did most of the work, followed me with hand tools and a plate compactor. We only used a skid loader at the end to help shuttle dirt from one side of the field to the other. I have a high spot in my yard (on the other side of the track) that I scraped all the dirt from. I know it doesn't look like it in the pics but theres probably close to 600 yards of dirt in the track because I raised up the one side so much. The skid just moves dirt a lot faster than the tractor, but the tractor has a/c and a radio!

That looks very nice. I look foward to the day I can build a track for my dirt bikes. I assume this is not your first track looking at the sign on your trailer.
