- 1999 John Deere 4300 12/12 sync-reverse
Hi Folks:
Do any of you own an Antonio Carraro Tractor? I have been coveting one for some time. I have to limit myself to one more tractor. I need one with more HP than my JD 4300 and it has to be more stable on the hills. I live in Western NC and my 130-acre farm has a 700-foot elevation change. To make use of as much of the land as possible I have to be able to work on steep hillsides. I had tested a Ventrac mower on my steep pastures and it was great, almost like a mountain goat but it was only 32HP with a Hydrostatic trans. Basically the Ventrac is a really only very nice lawn mower and not powerful or versatile enough for my needs. I really liked the hillside ability of the articulated Ventrac so I started looking for an articulated farm tractor and this is what I found.:
Antonio Carraro SRX9400
Antonio Carraro Tractor Full Line
You are probably saying “An Italian Tractor! You will never find parts!”. Well that has me worried too. However, Detroit Diesel makes the engine in this tractor and the Transmission is made by New Process. Also, Antonio Carraro make some of the axles for the 5000 series John Deere. I really wanted a John Deere articulated tractor but I can’t really use or afford a 500HP behemoth. I keep dreaming that JD will buy an Interest in Antonio Carraro.
The things that I like about this tractor are:
Plenty of HP (With this much HP I could run just about any agricultural equipment.)
16 forward/16 reverse gear transmission (I don’t like Hyro transmission, they overheat and suck up HP.)
Articulated (Great on hills and tight turning.)
Reversable operator station (No more stiff necks. Mow in reverse. Real fork lift on back etc.)
4 wheel wet disc brakes (Real stopping power, great for the hills)
Front and Rear 3PH and PTO (Work from either end or run 2 implements at a time such as rake in front and bailer in back)
2 speed PTO (great for finish mowing or light duty)
What do you think?
