Tractor
1999 John Deere 4300 12/12 sync-reverse
Hi Folks:
Do any of you own an Antonio Carraro Tractor? I have been coveting one for some time. I have to limit myself to one more tractor. I need one with more HP than my JD 4300 and it has to be more stable on the hills. I live in Western NC and my 130-acre farm has a 700-foot elevation change. To make use of as much of the land as possible I have to be able to work on steep hillsides. I had tested a Ventrac mower on my steep pastures and it was great, almost like a mountain goat but it was only 32HP with a Hydrostatic trans. Basically the Ventrac is a really only very nice lawn mower and not powerful or versatile enough for my needs. I really liked the hillside ability of the articulated Ventrac so I started looking for an articulated farm tractor and this is what I found.:

You are probably saying “An Italian Tractor! You will never find parts!”. Well that has me worried too. However, Detroit Diesel makes the engine in this tractor and the Transmission is made by New Process. Also, Antonio Carraro make some of the axles for the 5000 series John Deere. I really wanted a John Deere articulated tractor but I can’t really use or afford a 500HP behemoth. I keep dreaming that JD will buy an Interest in Antonio Carraro.

The things that I like about this tractor are:
Plenty of HP (With this much HP I could run just about any agricultural equipment.)
16 forward/16 reverse gear transmission (I don’t like Hyro transmission, they overheat and suck up HP.)
Articulated (Great on hills and tight turning.)
Reversable operator station (No more stiff necks. Mow in reverse. Real fork lift on back etc.)
4 wheel wet disc brakes (Real stopping power, great for the hills)
Front and Rear 3PH and PTO (Work from either end or run 2 implements at a time such as rake in front and bailer in back)
2 speed PTO (great for finish mowing or light duty)

What do you think?
Marshall

Even though I did not out right object, do I get to reply?;) Just given you a hard time here.. I think the tractors are awesome. The biggest issue I have seen is that they are pretty much impossible to put a loader in which is my real need. Like scotty was saying, the video that on youtube is awesome.:) Neat machines indeed.

Thanks for re-titiling your post. I removed the original and was attempting to send you a copy of it via the PM system so that you could re-post with a different title, however it does not appear that you have PM enabled.

FYI to all others... the moderators do not have the ability to re-title posts on TBN (or maybe I just don't know that feature yet!)

I tried to PM him as well.... .. I knew you could not change the Title/subject line...the came up in the Kioti forum once too....

It is a great thread though, as you don't see too many of these around.

Thanks for attempting to save the post for me but I just managed to copy it before it disappeared into the ether. I did have to rebuild the links and pictures.

I have learned many things on this site and I want to contribute to the knowledge on this site and I have a wealth of knowledge and experience to contribute but... I don't know... If I have to worry about every connotation of every word and the interpretation of every word by every prude.. it may not be worth it.
Sincerely, Marshall

I missed the U-Tube link. How about reposting it?

Yes fitting a loader is a problem. You can get front loaders for the front steer models but for the articulated models you have to use a 3PH loader. If I should ever be lucky enough to get a SRX9400 I would probably build a front loader myself. although I am not sure that a front loader is possible due to space and weight transfer limitations.

Well, I learned today that we can edit a post title, but it requires touching every reply to the thread as well. Anywho... stick around and post all you want. Just remember the family friendly rating of the site. ;)

As for the tractor that you crave, articulated machines are the best thing since sliced bread. I love my Power Trac and would never go back to a machine that was not articulated.:)

I found the following on the Home Page of this website:

A Family Friendly Site

In December, 2001, TractorByNet.com was recognized by FamilyFriendlySites.com, a leading reviewer of website content, as a "Family Friendly Site" with content suitable for viewers of all ages. TractorByNet.com met (and must continue to meet to maintain the recognition) a set of strict guidelines for recognition:

No adult-themed or sexually explicit text, images, or photographs.

For Marshall to say he is now concerned about "every connotation of every word and the interpretation of every word" is a rather extreme exaggeration. The language used in the original (and now deleted post) had a very definite meaning and no innocent connotation was implied nor could it be expected to be understood as anything but vulgar.

I was pleased to find this website, pleased to see the owners were proud of the content and pleased to find so much great information here without wading though vulgarity. If I am a prude for appreciating these attributes, so be it.
