My First Attempt at a Dump Trailer

Mike, I have figured already on having a 12" hangover past the hinge. That puts my length from the front to the fulcrum at 13'. I will have to verify that I have this clearance but I think I will be ok.

Meburdick, I understand what you are saying. My goal on this was because the initial estimate on this will have a significant tongue weight already. I will have a 4' front wall, a 10K winch (100#), the battery, the hydraulic pump, plus the dump bed frame. This is without anything loaded in it.

When you design it out, you can move the axles slightly forward if you know you will have "extra" weight up front to carry and want to put a larger percentage of them on the axles. That's not an issue.

I was only warning that you don't want to end up planning, say, a 7k trailer that will have only 400lbs of tongue weight. As long as you're certain to keep the percentages in line with 10%-15% of total weight being on the tongue, you'll be safe and it will tow nice.
