I finally got to put the 5525 through the paces and got 8 hrs on the clock. Moved and hauled a load of branches and tree trunks that was a result of a previous unprecedented wind storm in Montesano WA. I was lucky and did not sustain any damage to any structures, but had to remove large amount of debris. By now I had 8 rs on the clock and everything worked well including my home made pallet forks lifting large tree trunks.

I was pulling one trunk segment and needed more rpm so I boosted it to 2k and the engine began to miss and bluish smoke was being emitted. This continued for a short time till I let off on the pedal. I waited a few seconds and then attempted the same pull and again it began to miss at the 2k range with engine missing again. This trunk was lighter then the previous ones I've been pulling all day without any problems. I let the engine idle down, waited and then it worked fine. It was just a couple of times this happened and it was ok after that.

I also happened to notice that the valve spool fitting were made in China. This made me flinch as I have read many problems on the Jinma board relating to the problems with their spools and fittings and a lot of the Jinma owners replace them with after market units. I've had no issues with my valve so far.

During my clean up the weather went from sun, rain, sleet and snow, all in one day. The tractor did fine except for a few times when I could not get enough traction due to the mud, even with the BH mounted, but it was up hill and slick. By the end of the day the 5525 was filthy and covered in mud. I did hose it down before I tucked it back in the garage.

A friend of mine had a similar problem with his 5500. It would run great until the cold start would turn off (20 minutes) then idle up and it would miss with smoke. His problem turned out that the injection pump was out of time.

I doubt that it's the timing because it is not consistent. Out -of -time does not vanish on it's own and for the previous 8 or so hours did not manifest the problem. My dealer is an hour or more drive and I dont have a way to transport it. I'd have to rent a rig. I called him and he did not think it was something major and thought maybe I was bogging it down. I will keep an eye on it and if it happens again, I will if the dealer can come by and check the timing. Timing adjust us simply moving the pump clock or counter cw a very small increment, but it is under warranty so I'm not messing with it

It is advisable, per manual and common knowledge, that you dont let diesels idle too long. When I work my MF 165, I seldom shut it off unless I'm done with the chore. It never loads up and at 37k hrs, never smokes after warm up. The dealer stated that when I shut the tractor off and re start, it starts the KSB timing again, advancing it for 20 minutes or so. I did not ask if this happens even if a restart on a warm machine. Evens so, a few degrees advance should not be a problem. Blue smoke makes me think it was ingesting oil from an outside source. I dont work the motor hard and at 9 hrs the rings probably have not seated yet. I'll play with ot in a few weeks and see if it repeats the problem. I 've read that on some of the bigger machines timing is sometimes an issue, but I've not heard about the 5525's having timing issues. If it is the KSB timing, an easy fix, put a switch in the circuit and afetr initial warm up, turn it off for the day, less you run in cold temperatures requiring it's function. Will let you know.

I bet a dollar it's the injection timing or a bad KSB timer.
Does it happen after idling for a short period of time only after it warms up? The longer it idles the worse it gets?
My 7010 did this and it was the injection timing. Ran fine until it was warm and idled for a second or two. Then the smoke rolled and the popping and cracking started.

I was trying to pull a big section of an alder out of a creek bed. I did this all day without a problem revving it between 1.8-2.0k and worked ok. Then at the last time it began to miss and bluish smoke at high rpm, around 2+k. Never stalled just did not run smooth. It calmed down and did not smoke when I let off the rpms. After two tries, I abandoned the attempt for fear of causing damage. Without the load it ran fine after that, but I kept the rpm down to 1500 and drove it up a small hill to get to the cabin to clean. Started fine and ran fine after that, but did not attempt another load. I don't let it idle too long in between setting the chain on the logs. Kept it as instructed in manual, under 5 min. Im away from the cabin and will have to try and see. I will disconnect the wire from the ksb after warm up and see if it makes a difference.

If it happens again, I will call and pay for the dealers trip, 45 miles, for gas to come and check it. Cheaper then renting a flat bed.

You should be able to let the thing idle all day with no ill effects.
What was happening with mine was it would idle for any period of time or just run at a low rpm and load up. I could get the thing screaming and it would go away.
The injection timing is simple to adjust just a couple bolts and a pry bar. I think I'd see if maybe the dealer will send his tech out to check it instead of hauling it around.

Agreed. My money is on the injector timing. KSB issues have become a thing of the past on new Mahindra units..

What's the result of this? Did it fix itself?

Left-
I have not used the tractor since that day as I completed the task I set out to do and returned home to Seattle. I live a 100 mi. from my second home that I use for recreation for now, but will be permanent in a few years. It will be a few weeks more before I return there to make the first mowing and will see if I can duplicate the problem. Will get back with the results.

Had the exact same problem with my new 5525 6 months ago. The dealer advanced the injector timing 1/16" and the thing has run like a scalded dog ever since.
