Good Evening,
My wife and I just purchased 8 acres where we are planning on building. Obviously, my JD 120 that I used for our 1/2 acre isn't going to cut it anymore. I've been doing some research, and what I think I've decided on is the Kubota B series.

Initially, the 2620 is what I was interested in, until I saw that a 72" MMM couldn't be used, only a 60". Since the 8 acres is currently all grass, I definitely want a 72". The lot is fairly level and there won't be any scalping issues with the bigger mower. On Kubota's website, they show the premium 2630 model, that apparently can handle the 72" mower, but its my understanding that they have been discontinued, correct me if I'm wrong. I believe the 2630 would be perfect for my uses, mainly mowing, light material moving, etc.

However, I ran across this B3200, Kubota Tractor and Backhoe which has a backhoe, but no mower. I also believe that it does not have the premium features of the 2630 or 3030...although I'm not sure I need them anyway. The backhoe would pay for itself with the money it would save doing my own electrical and well trenching, as well as backfilling around my new house. How is the price on this, since its essentially new? Are the ag tires going to ruin my grass? Maybe I'm buying too much tractor...any thoughts would be appreciated. Sorry for asking so many questions, I'm just trying to make an informed decision...

this TBN forum got me to consider the Kubota B series and the B3030 is what I'm now looking at - the extra hp over the B2630 convinced me

I am still comparing JD 3320 or the 3032e, but I don't know enough about them yet, price etc. I know that generally the JD's are heavier, and that they have a Yanmar engine.

If you want or have use for a tractor that is one thing but there are other machines that would be a lot better choice for mowing 8 acres routinely. I would suggest that you consider getting a good setup for mowing as your first priority that will save you alot more time and agravation. A tlb is handy to have but I wouldn't buy one because I had a few trenches to dig then try to make it a lawnmower.

TBN is full of threads on new small tractor/mower purchasing to get a better idea of what to suggest it helps to know more about you and your property.
How many obstacles do you have to work around? Do you have small spaces where a wide mower won't fit or large open areas? How much time do you anticipate spending to mow your property on a regular basis? How frequently do you need to mow in your locale? Will you be mowing all of it regularly or just a portion of it?
What other things do you wan't to do with the new machine and do you need to handle snow each winter? Just some things to consider.

Welcome to the forum! That looks like a really nice tractor but a word of caution. It's very easy to come up with jobs that the tractor can accomplish to justify the purchase. Try and buy what fits YOUR property best and is a wise expenditure. For example: Are you really going to mow all 8 acres? If so, maybe something more directed at mowing versus the backhoe. You could rent a trencher for less than $200 a day and in a day or two get your electric and well trench dug. Maybe a finish/flail mower or dedicated zero turn would be the better choice. This would also free up some cash for attachments for driveway maintenance, snow removal etc.

Now if you just WANT a backhoe and need help coming up with stuff to get momma on board, there are plenty of people on here who can help you with that too! :) Good luck and have fun!
