Just wanted to show off my hard working little man helping ole dad out with some fresh cut lumber off the homemade sawmill. I hope he remembers these moments for a life time. I know I will. Thats my YM2210 I just got for $3,500. It shows 212 hrs and looks to me in perfect condition. I didn't get any implements with it, but I did pick up a boom pole for $75. It sure does make moving those logs & cut boards easier. I want a box too but not sure if I should get a 5ft or 4ft. Is the 5ft to big? I have a couple of weeks before I get it so I'm just inquiring about it now. I have more questions but I'll have to get a pic before I post so be ready for it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Thanks,
Kip

I used a 5' box with my 1700.. and hte 1700's and the 2000's have the same basic size frame... your machine should rock with a 5' box.

nice pic.

Yeah I have to concur with Soundguy. Go ahead and get a 5 ft box for your 2210. It will pull it just fine.

Thanks for the replys, I was going with the 4ft but now I will go with the 5 ft., only a few bucks more. I found a new one with teeth for $285 and it looks identical (steel thickness, number of teeth and all) to others that are going for $385 & up. The quality looks to be the same, is there something that I'm over looking??
Thanks,
Kip

The only thing you are over-looking is most likely a name brand. I got a 5' A.T.L.A.S. , probably made in somebody's garage in Alabama, and it works just great, for $224.

One thing to look for.......are there pins or bolts to change ripper depth? I didn't pay attention until I got home and had to use tools to adjust the height of them /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
And I use a light 5' box on a YM1700, so you should be okay with the 5' as well.

I wasn't thinking about it until someone mentioned a light box. Go for the heavier box. The weight is key to scraping with an LS box. Not to say the light ones won't do the job, the heavier ones just do it faster. I have seen a few light duty boxes that have the cutting edge welded in place. Make sure you get one with a replaceable blade. You will probably never need to replace the blade, but the replaceable blades are hardened and they have a better edge.

Also some Box's have a "reversable" cutting blade. Bolted in place. You flip it over to use the new edge.
As mentioned, the ease of ripper teeth adjustment is a plus,as is a "Fold-down" backfill blade on the rear of the box.
My 155d pulls a 4' box just fine untill the box gets 1/2 full, then it just spins all the tires. So depending on your soil / traction conditions,
the actual results will vary.
Yes your son will remember these (Good Times) helping dad. Lloyd

I sell A.T.L.A.S. boxes with my tractors. They are decent and make one with welded blades (light duty)) and a heavy duty model with replacable/reversable blades. Go with the heavy duty for a few bucks more, they are worth it. Both models have adjustable rippers with pins, so no tools are needed to change ripper height. I have sold about 25+ of these boxes with no problems.
