jd 4310
Hello - I'm new to this forum and I hope someone knows my tractor's problem and solution.

My 4310 eHydro works great moving around the property working the loader and minor mowing and such, but once I start doing heavy mowing of the hilly pasture after about 30 to 40 minutes the tractor just stops in place. Pressing the forward and reverse pedals does nothing at that point. All hydraulics still work fine including the loader and PTO - but it just won't move. When I turn it off and let it sit for several hours it returns to normal and works again. If I return to the tractor only after an hour or two it might try to move slightly then stops again. This has happened 4 times now. I changed the suction side filter as the manual says may be the reason but it didn't help. I was told by a friend that perhaps the hydraulic fluid is foaming and it just takes several hours to settle out to be able to run the transmission. However, I just changed the fluid yesterday and it happened again last night. This morning it is back to normal with no codes flashing. When it first happened and stopped moving last night I believe 3 codes where flashing (L-S-L-L ; S-S-S-S ; another code I didn't get written down) but about 1 hour later when still not moving only one code flashes (L-S-L-L). I think it acts like the seat switch is failing but I don't know enough to understand if that is possible given it goes back to normal. I'm not a tractor mechanic and do not have much knowledge about how to fix the tractor. I'm nervous because when I've told a couple of local service techs these symptoms at different stores they had not heard of this (though I didn't tell them the flashing codes because I hadn't yet noticed them until last night). Thank you for your time..

Welcome to TractorByNet!

We moved your thread to the John Deere Owning & Operating forum. :)

I was bush hogging w/ a 3720 the other day and when on a hill, the PTO a and engine would begin to shut off and I would push the PTO switch off and the tractor would stay running. I also lost all hydro as well. After I would pull up on the switch a few times, it would finally re-engage and then it would be normal for a while. It happened 3 times while on a slope or tilted.
Flashing several codes.
Any ideas?

NLO I don't think that I can give you any advice but I'll tag along since I have a 4310 also.

Does it make any difference if the PTO is on or not when you try to move it? I know on mine if my PTO is on and I try to stand up the engine will shut off.

im working on a 4310 it was driving fine then every once in a while ,it just stops. let sit a minute push reverse then forward and it moves again. a tech told me to re calibrate , I started calibrating and found throttle sensor is out of range and will not caibrate , picked up new sensor today ,others have checked out. will try to recalibate tomorrow. the only other thingit could beis the speed sensor.

When it stops moving the PTO is still going strong and the loader still works as well. Just won't move, even with PTO turned off, until hours later. If I come off the seat when everything is working I know that the HST stops but the loader still works and I can raise and lower the mower deck - not sure if the blade will stop turning because I didn't try that. Thanks.

I don't know how to recalibrate or change sensors either. I sure hope it is something like that though. Is there a way these sensors can get hot if really working the tractor hard and it is hot? This problem doesn't seem to happen if I'm just running around the property pulling trees out and hauling firewood and such.

I got mine to recalibrate today its pretty easy you do need at least the pages for codes and calibration procedure and an ohm meter . after I got mine calibrated it moved again so I could wash all the dirt/dust what ever that was packed under cowl and dash , after I washed it , I found a blue wire coming from ecm that looks like it was rubbing on probably turn signal switch was almost worm thru the only sensor that could be heat affected would be engine speed sensor at flywheel . another try to diagnose is clear the codes when it stops key on/off a bunch of times and see if tractor moves again

Mine does the exact same thing. What is the solution?

What was your ultimate solution?
