HEY FOLKS,
Ijust remembered this from FRIDAY.When i dropped my bx off for service ,i parked it dwn back and took in the key.The service man said for me to keep my key he didnt need it.I said "Huh?" He explained all the bx keys are alike and he had his own.Did he mean each model,or all? SO ANYONE WHO CAN GET A BX KEY CAN EASILY DRIVE OFF WITH MY TRACTOR? Time for an alternative theft plan GUESS

Same for most all CUTS and heavy equipment that has a key. Kubota B series all have the same key although I am not sure about the B3030.

JD does the same thing. All the Yanmar made JD's use on key, and all the US made tractors and construction equipment uses another.

My friend has a clearing/ditching/excavating business with all Caterpillar equipment and yup...same key fits all his equipment!

If you own a tractor, chances are, your honest. Thats how I look at it. :)

Funny, wouldn't have guessed. But considering that my key storage location is the ignition, probably won't make a difference. (I figure leaving it there keeps the water out).

Might be different in an urban area, but we don't even lock are houses around here - if someone wanted the key they could walk inside and get it. But stealing a tractor would involve someone doing a lot of planning to bring a trailer here, etc. Just don't see it happening. Haven't ever heard of it, for that matter.

Might be different some places, but hey, you can still leave your keys in the ignition when you go shopping up here, and cars are easier to steal.

I'd hide the keys if kids were around though. Or a few of my friends, for that matter...

Key will never stop a thief; Keys are to keep honest people honest.

Interesting. When I took mine in for a repair I left the key at the dealer. When I got the tractor back he handed me the key, but it didn't have the cheap little Kubota key ring on it. I assumed they'd taken it off for some reason. I guess they actually just gave me another key.

Good to know though. I'd like to have a spare key or two and if they are all the same I should just be able to walk in and buy a couple.

The B3030 has the same key, the cab door keys may be unique?

Yes, the door will usually have a different key than the ignition, but is the same key for probably every door lock they use.

guys there is about 10 different keys to suit the entire kubota range. yes service tecs carry there own (or should, i do) once you get to know the models you just grab any old key. makes it easy if you loose a key but. not so secure though. but diesels are real easy to hot wire anyway.
