It will do it when I am brush hogging and also just tapping out my front end loader. What is causing this?
My kubota 3030 is cutting out and throwing out black smoke out the exaust.

Subway, just wondering if the fuel filter is clogged up? Bad fuel? Stanley

Black smoke is unburned fuel (soot). Maybe operating in too high a gear or something else is loading the engine way more than it should be. Dragging brakes, blocked 3-point hitch travel, malfunctioning hydraulic valve - ???? With the bucket off the ground and everything shut off in neutral does the tractor roll forward & back ok?

Most likely a fuel/air mix issue. Check and clean air filter (easy). Replace fuel filter. Not sure of the ease on yours but on the new 'B's that I looked at on the dealer lot, it looks like a piece of cake. I have a BX which has two in line fuel filters and I want to replace them with what I think is a better 'B' style filter. The other thing I would question is the fuel quality... is it fresh/clean? Good luck.

air filter, a diesel will drain the crankcase of oil if the air filter is dirty, black smoke is the first clue. if its not that you have a serious issue with fuel delivery

Make sure you are not tripping the seat switch, or there may be a bad connection to it. May be cutting out by doing so and when reactivated the engine will be throttling up and throwing black smoke.

Most common causes of black smoke are faulty injectors, a faulty injector pump, a bad air filter (causing not enough oxygen to be supplied), a bad EGR valve (causing the valves to clog) or even a bad turbocharger. Some of these are easy fixes.

Just to add here, the opposite, White smoke can indicate low compression or H2O entering combustion chamber.
