I ignored our local John Deere dealership for years and years. I always thought they would be way too expensive and have a snotty attitude. Boy, did I screw up. These people are top notch. I had them do some work recently, and was pleasantly surprised. They put the Mom & Pop repair shop I was dealing with to shame. I changed the oil in my generator a couple days ago, put fresh gas in it and cranked it up in preparation for Hurricane Dorian. I filled the tank to the gills this morning and cranked it up again. It ran terribly, and finally died. Tried to crank it again, but I was out of luck. I turned to the John Deere dealership for help. They showed up less than 15 minutes later and started to troubleshoot. I was amazed to learn that the overflow hose from the gas tank fed into the air filter housing. You guessed it. That took care of it. I was a little embarrassed. I thanked the gent sincerely and told him I would call the dealership and pay the bill. He told me there was no charge. I felt horrible for taking my business somewhere else for all those years. They now have a customer for life. If anyone here lives in eastern North Carolina and there is a branch of Quality Equipment close by, please, try 'em out, if you haven't already. They are top notch. I now have 'em on speed dial.

You are lucky, the ones around me have, like you said, a snotty attitude (and that is putting it kindly). I went into the one I bought my X320 from to get an oil filter and plugs. I was standing at the parts counter waiting while 3 parts guys were in a huddle telling jokes. I waited patiently for a couple of jokes then I spoke up and asked if I could get some help. One guy came over and just stood behind the counter looking at me while the other 2 dissapeared down the parts isles. I told him what I needed and gave him the serial number of the engine in my mower knowing they needed it to get the right stuff. He looked on the computer and dissapeared to get the parts;without saying a word. If I hadn't needed the oil filter to do a change, I would have walked out. He came back and asked if there was anything else. Without saying a word, I shook my head no and handed him my Visa. About that time, what I assume to be a local big time farmer cam in and the other 2 parts guys suddenly appeared behind the counter, both talking to the new customer and asking what he needed. I guess you are judged by the size of your equipment at that dealership. I'll probably order my stuff online from now on. If I'm not going to get personal service from a local store, why not save some money on the parts. And BTW, I have heard the same thing from other people about the same kind of treatment.

And BTW, when I go to the nearby Kubota dealership for parts or supplies, the parts people are looking me in the eye soon as I walk that way and the dealership owner often comes out of his office to say hello.

Which is exactly how my JD Dealership treats me, bikerdib... like your Kubota dealership. I go into the parts/service area maybe twice a year for 'something' and they call me by name. Always have 'time for me'... and this is a Dealership that mostly works on the big Ag tractors/implements.

When I'm there, the salesbloke (who I bought my 4105 from/with in '13) typically comes out with a coffee and a yarn.

Good onya Vigilant.

Guess I should count my blessings. I found a couple John Deere parts outlets online. I guess that's always an option. Good luck, man.

Reminds me of the International dealership I did business with back when I was running trucks. They took good care of me, and also of my trucks. I made sure they knew that I'm a Kenworth man for life, but I bought my trucks from then because of their stellar service department. It was a rare anomaly when I had to call a wrecker, even in the dead of the winter in the Midwest. Even then, it was usually a warranty issue. That's part of how I kept such outstanding drivers and loyal customers.
